How can I tell which CCD unit hold which CD?

I have 4 CCDs and MediaTRACKER v2.1.2. How can I determine which unit has which CD? Is there an inventory function?

Also, how can I tell how many available slots are left in each of the units for additional CDs?

Thank you for your help.

I have developed a program that should be suitable for users of Windows 7 and Windows Vista that displays the number of slots free in total.
If you wish, I could make a modification of it which would show the number of slots free in each unit... Let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

I don't suppose you can do the same for us Mac users?

Hi dutcherp3,
As much as I'd like to, unfortunately I have no experience programming for Macs, nor any Macintosh based environment suitable for learning and testing programs on. I'd be happy to share insight on how my code works with anyone who is doing development along the same lines for Macs though.

Also, the SDK doesn't seem to cater to Macintosh environments... Would anyone from Digistore Solutions be able to shed some light on this? Is CenturionAlliance development supported in Macintosh environments?

Hello Giles

Greetings from Digistore Solutions.

You are correct.  Our Software Development Kit (SDK) does not cater for Macintosh environments presently.

However, Digistore Solutions wishes to partner with a freelance programmer to develop a brand new application (similarly to the MediaTRACKER) for our Centurion CD.

Interested parties, please e-mail your intention to : vfoo@digistoresolutions.com.

Thank you and best regards.

Cheers

Red_Wolf_2,

Thanks for replying.

I would definitely be interested in anything that would ease me knowing where my CDs are located (which unit) and the used or free slots in my CCDs.

Could you please provide me with how I might obtain a copy of your current program. And, yes, I would be more than happy to assist you with testing any modifications to enhance the information about used/free slots.

Please check out my reply to 'support@DSS'. You might want to collaborate with them to update/upgrade MediaTRACKER (with credit to you .. I would hope!).

Again, thank you for your reply and I look forward to hearing from you.

jpbrogan

P.S. - Cool handle !! My wife went by SilverWolf (She was a 'BIG' fan of wolves). Quite a coincidence !!

Hi jpbrogan,
I've just whipped this program up from scratch in the last few hours, so hopefully it doesn't have too many odd bugs. It is currently beta grade, so weird things almost certainly will happen. I'll look to fixing it up on the off chance I get some time in the next few months...

The MediaTracker Stack Monitor, along with all of my other projects can be found at http://randomcontent.wolfnexus.net/Centurion/

Red_Wolf_2,

Thanks again for your prompt reply.

I followed your link and downloaded and installed your programs as per the instructions. Everything worked just like the instructions said.

All I can say is ... WOW !!! This is exactly the information I was looking for. Out-Frackin'-Standing job.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your efforts. I'll play around with them for a day or two and give you some feedback.

YOU be da man. Thanks.

Regards,
jpbrogan

Excellent to hear that it does the job! Theres a few things in the program I know I'll need to fix, currently it has poor handling of the methods used to access MediaTRACKER, along with no error catching, so its prone to crashes if things go funny with MediaTRACKER. Other than that, it seems to be doing its job pretty well, if you have any ideas for other features to add, let me know and I'll see what I can do!

Hello jpbrogan,

Greetings from Digistore Solutions.

You may go under the "Properties" option to view the location of the selected disc assets within the MediaTRACKER Library database. As for remaining slots availability, this feature is not present in our MediaTRACKER application. Instead, once the 100 disc slot is reach, the carousel will be in its half slot position which prevents further insertion of disc from its mailslot.

You may wish to upgrade your MediaTRACKER version 2.1.2 to version 2.1.3. Kindly download the latest from our site at: http://www.centurion-cd.com/products/downloads/105

Thank you for your quick reply and the information provided. Most valuable.

I have followed your advice (and provided link) and downloaded and installed version 2.1.3. Again, thank you.

Might I request that in the next release of MediaTRACKER that you include a column that indicates the CDs location (i.e. - the unit address) and possibly a status bar showing either used or available slots for the CCDs. I would be more than happy to assist with testing your modification to MediaTRACKER.

Thank you for your help and consideration of my suggestions.
